The long wait is over..... Our first coffee from Kenya is here..... And how it is..... The Tinganga Estate, located in the fertile red volcanic soils of Kiambu County, offers everything you could hope for from a Kenyan debut: clarity, vibrancy, and sweetness.
Tinganga is a 182-hectare farm originally established by British colonists, but is now proudly Kenyan-owned and part of Sasini's network of six plantations. Sasini prioritizes equity and the welfare of its workers, providing them with housing, early childhood education, union membership, and wages above the legal minimum wage. Beyond the plantation, the company has partnered with European partners to invest in Njenga Karume Primary School, including the construction of a computer lab where local students can learn critical digital skills for the future.
The coffee itself is a classic washed SL28/SL34 variety, offering everything that makes Kenyan coffees so famous. After careful hand-picking, the cherries are pulped, fermented in water tanks, and then thoroughly washed to bring out the clarity that makes Kenyan coffees so distinctive.
In the cup we get an exceptional clarity with flavors of blackberry, passion fruit, combined with an accompanying muscovado sugar note.
An excellent Kenyan coffee that you shouldn't miss.
